By Fraser Capps: Running the London Marathon to help beat Crohn’s disease and bowel cancer

I’ve always been aware of the important role our bowels play in all aspects of our health. My grandfather, who I never got to meet, died from bowel cancer, so the impact of this disease and its symptoms was something I’d heard about during my childhood.

Alongside this, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the age of 17. Living with Crohn’s means dealing with chronic pain, fatigue, unpredictable flare-ups, bowel resections and any many more fun symptoms and checkups that affect my daily life.. Yet, like my grandfather, I face this challenge head-on and am determined to turn my life journey into a force for good.

That’s why I’m running the London Marathon to raise money for Bowel Research UK. I’m determined to make a difference and help fund vital research to improve early detection, treatment, and, ultimately, prevention. With funding, we can better control bowel cancer and other bowel diseases.

Please drive me by pledging your support. The course is 26.2 miles. If 100 friends, colleagues and family can sponsor me for £1 per kilometre, I will reach my goal. You can help by sponsoring me here.
