Lesley Dibley
#auguts hard to talk about
Professor Lesley Dibley transitioned to working full time in research after over 20 years as a paediatric nurse. She now holds a professorship at the University of Greenwich, where her work explores the everyday experiences of living with chronic illnesses. She has a notable body of work relating to living with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Recently, she has started exploring the experiences and impact of people who are ageing with a chronic illness, specifically the details of the interface between chronic illness and normal ageing.
She champions patient involvement in research and encourages research capacity and capability by inviting clinical nurses onto her research teams, which focus on delivering research which will make a difference to patients’ lives.
Her grant from Bowel Research UK explored the experiences of Bangladeshi patients living with IBD – learn more about the study here: www.bowelresearchuk.org/research-hub/experiences-of-inflammatory-bowel-disease-among-bme-patients/
